At GrannyHobby, we value your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how we collect, use, and protect your information. This Privacy Policy explains our practices when you visit grannyhobby.com (the “Site”).
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We may collect information you voluntarily provide, such as your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a comment, or contact us through our Site.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our Site, we automatically collect certain information, including:
- Log data — your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Cookies — we set two small cookies, and only in response to something you do.
ckc_okstores your accept-or-reject answer to the cookie notice for 180 days so we do not ask again.ezTOC_hidetoc-is set only if you collapse the table of contents on an article, and remembers that for 30 days so it stays collapsed for you. Neither contains an identifier, and neither is used for analytics or advertising. - Analytics data — we use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool (Umami, running on our own server at analytics.oakenai.tech) to understand Site traffic and usage patterns. It records page views, referring sites, and general device and country information in aggregate. It does not set cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not track you across other websites. We do not use Google Analytics.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve our Site and content.
- Send you newsletters or updates if you have opted in.
- Respond to your comments, questions, and requests.
- Monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activity on the Site.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent or unauthorized activity.
Affiliate Links and Third-Party Services
Our Site contains affiliate links to third-party retailers, including Amazon and other merchants. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These third-party sites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites.
Cookies
We use two first-party cookies, each for a single purpose:
ckc_ok— remembers whether you accepted or rejected the cookie notice, so it is not shown to you on every visit. Set when you answer the notice; lasts 180 days.ezTOC_hidetoc-— remembers that you collapsed the table of contents on a particular article, so it stays collapsed when you come back. Set only if you collapse a table of contents; lasts 30 days. This cookie is set by the table-of-contents plugin we run on our own server, not by a third party.
We do not set analytics or advertising cookies. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer you land on (for example Amazon) may set its own cookies on its own site to attribute the referral; that is governed by that retailer’s privacy policy, not ours. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking the two cookies above only means you will see the cookie notice again on your next visit, and any table of contents you collapsed will be expanded again.
Third-Party Advertising
We do not currently serve advertising from third-party ad networks. Our Site is supported by affiliate links, which are described above. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first. For reference, if a site does run network advertising, those networks may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits across websites to provide targeted advertisements, and you can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.
Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email address below.
Children’s Privacy
Our Site is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
